Wetland Establishment
The during the past few years we have been busy promoting the establishment of several wetlands.
Waipahi Wetland
In 2019 Pomahaka farmers Gerard and Ann Vallely wanted to reinstate a 5 hectare wetland with 4 hectares of supporting higher ground. Funding was sought from ORC and MPI's Job's for Nature programme to undertake this work.

The wetland was officially opened on 25 June 2021.

Today visitors to the area can walk around the wetland complex. If visiting the site, be sure to watch out for wading birds and native fish, all of which are thriving in their new home.
Washpool Wetland
The Washpool wetland restoration project has been funded by MPI's Jobs for Nature project, allowing landowners Owen & Barbara Johnston to put 7,000 native plants into their wetland area.
