Water testing
The Pomahaka Water Care Group have been undertaking water testing throughout the catchment since 2015. We are now beginning to see some important trends. These results have shown us where hot spot areas were in the past, and have allowed us to act in order to mitigate any potential negative impacts.

Our monitoring programme has been designed to test at 30 sites throughout the catchment, and testing is undertaken six-weekly throughout the summer months. With this more intensive monitoring we are able to test upstream, middle and downstream sites on several of our tributaries.

The 2020 data for the mainstem of the Pomahaka River is presented here, compared to the limits set in the Otago Water Plan.
